The price is right for this soon-to-be-replaced Nissan |

With a redesigned 2013 Sentra likely arriving in Nissan showrooms this year, why should you consider buying one of the 2012 versions?
Well, despite being introduced for 2007 – which makes it pretty dated and having a rather stark and minivan-ish interior only a Nissan bean counter could love – it’s still a decent little sedan in most ways. And one of the more important ones is price.
The test Sentra 2.0, which was driven in the latter part of 2011, came with a price sheet indicating a $15,478 starting point, to which was added a $2,000 value option package, a $1,300 continuously variable automatic transmission and an entirely frivolous and I-don’t-see-the-point $300 for triple-coat paint. Add $1,467 in freight and PDI charges and you end up with a pre-tax price of $20,545.
However, if you go to Nissan’s website and dial in an Ontario postal code, you’ll find the same $15,478 base price, $2,000 for options and $1,300 for auto transmission – forget... [Read More]

Used Vehicle Review: Nissan Sentra, 2007-2011 |

Review and photos by Chris Chase
The 2007 Nissan Sentra replaced a previous-generation car that was about as dull as a small sedan could get, and so this sixth-generation model brought with it the promise of a personality injection.
Well, we could hope, couldn’t we? As before, the only version of this then-new Sentra that offered anything to boast about was the high-performance SE-R model, which used a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine that made 177 horsepower in the SE-R, and 200 in the even sportier Spec-V. Regular grade Sentras shared a 2.0-litre four-cylinder good for 140 horsepower.
A six-speed manual transmission was standard in 2.0-litre cars, with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) offered as the automatic option. The SE-R, surprisingly, came standard with a CVT, this one with a manual-shift model operated with paddle shifters. The Spec V used a... [Read More]

2011 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V Review |
|

If you’re in the market for a compact car that offers performance and handling without compromising space for the family, and you can’t quite swing for near $30K price of the Volkswagen GTI, you might be looking at a Honda Civic Si. Nissan, however, has an alternative in the form of the Sentra SE-R.
There’s no reason to choose a boring transportation appliance when we have kids. Although a minivan or a small SUV would be more practical, nobody’s forcing you to get one if a car is all you want.
The SE-R version of the Sentra looks the part. It distinguishes itself from lesser Sentra trims with its chromeless grille, blacked-out headlight and taillight clusters, squared-off front bumper, side sill extensions, rear spoiler and gunmetal 17-inch alloy wheels. The Spec V variant we’re testing doesn’t get any additional eye candy; the only difference, actually, is W-rated summer performance tires compared to the standard SE-R’s V-rated rubber, which isn’t really visible anyhow. ... Spec V ups the ante for Nissan Sentra SE-R |
|

2011 Spec V model delivers 23 more hp than the SE-R, for a total of 200 horsepower
Some people questioned my wisdom when I booked a Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V during a cold and snowy winter stretch. A front-wheel-drive sports compact is not usually the best option for navigating Montreal streets during and after one of our famous snow storms.
Thankfully, the snowfall during my week with the attractive blue Sentra tester was minimal, which made for maximum enjoyment of the Spec V's drive.
The SE-R Spec V is not your basic Sentra; the latter is a good car, but it just doesn't have the power of the Spec V.
A base Sentra comes with a 1.4-litre four-cylinder engine that produced 140 horsepower -a good number for a car of this size. But step up to the SE-R and you get a much larger 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine that delivers 177 hp through a continuously variable transmission.
The Spec V ups the ante even more, to 200 hp and 180 foot-pounds of torque mated to a smooth six-speed manual transmission.
The one downside to the Spec V over the base Sentra is that it burns premium gasoline at a rate of 9.8 litres of... [Read More]

Nissan's next Sentra to look more like the Altima |
|
Dec 14, 2010 - 7:28 AM - by Admin
|
Nissan aims to double or even triple sales of its next-generation Sentra by offering a car with styling more in line with the mid-sized Altima.
"We miss the heart of the market right now," said Al Castignetti, Nissan Division vice president of sales. "A lot of people reject the Sentra because of its looks. It's not a bad car; it's a great car. But it is not a natural progression to move down to it from the Altima."
Nissan will sell about 100,000 Sentras this year in the United States, well below its compact rivals at Toyota and Honda.
The redesigned Sentra is still two years away. But Nissan acknowledges that the new one must do a better job of holding the interest of customers who, after considering an Altima, decide to shop in the next segment down.
"It just has to do with the aesthetics of the vehicle," Castignetti said. "When it launched, it was a polarizing vehicle."
Nissan wants the same family relationship between the Altima and Sentra that Toyota enjoys with the mid-sized Camry and the smaller Corolla and Honda has with its Accord and Civic.
"We've... [Read More]

Nissan Sentra B15 H&R Sport Springs (00-06) |

Lowers your Nissan Sentra 1.5" front and 1.4" rear
The most popular spring in H&R's line-up, Sport Springs will lower your vehicle an average of 1.5 - 2 inches (depending upon the make and model of your vehicle) for a lower center of gravity, improved handling and a more aggressive appearance. Sport springs feature more control than that of the OE Sport spring, but is still comfortable for daily use. Sport springs are an excellent choice for street and occasional track use.

2010-'11 Nissan Sentra Recalled Because of Engine Problem |
|

Just the Facts:
* Nissan is recalling 13,737 2010-'11 Sentra cars because the engine may stop running while the vehicle is in motion.
* NHTSA said the Sentras were built from May 22 through July 8, 2010.
* The recall is expected to begin on November 29.
WASHINGTON — Nissan is recalling 13,737 2010-'11 Sentra sedans because the engine may stop running while the vehicle is in motion, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
NHTSA said the Sentras were built from May 22 through July 8, 2010. They have a "machining irregularity," it said.
"The bolt/washer surface on the positive battery terminal cable end may allow for a gap to occur in the contact area of the terminal," said NHTSA in its recalls summary of the problem. "This can result in a voltage drop that may cause difficulty starting the vehicle and could cause damage to the engine control module. This issue can cause the engine to stop running while the vehicle is in motion at low speed with a difficult or no start, increasing the risk of a crash."
Nissan dealers will replace the... [Read More]
